What's The Largest Area? An Exercise in Calculus
I found this puzzle on blackpenredpen’s YouTube channel. There he presented a non-calculus method, which involves an application of the AM-GM inequality.
The curve is a standard cubic function, y = x³ and the horizontal line gives us the bound for the rectangle at x = 3.
Personally I will use a simpler and more elementary method using calculus.
